The masthead
About The Coast Record
A record is a promise: written down, sourced, kept. The Coast Record is an independent, free-to-read local masthead for the Central Coast, NSW, covering the decision layer of the region and keeping its memory.
What we cover
The question behind every story is the one Coast residents actually ask: what was decided about the place I live, and what does it mean for me? So we read the council papers, the budgets, the development lists, the regulator determinations and the community organisation reports, and we answer in plain language, with the working shown. The news half tells you what changed; The Record half keeps the places, projects and sagas those stories return to.
What we are not
Not a police scanner, not a what’s-on guide, not a place for outrage. The Coast already has outlets doing those things. We do not cover crime or court, we do not write about private individuals, and we have no interest in political barracking. Decisions, documents, data, and what they mean for you.
How it is made
Stories are researched and written with AI systems run by a small independent Australian team. Every factual claim links its primary source, quotes are only ever real, and corrections are logged in the open. The full method, including how advertising and sponsored content are handled, is on how this site works: it is short, plain and worth the two minutes.
